A REVIEW OF THE NEW SOLID SKIN SERUM BAR FROM DEW MIGHTY

I’ve always been pretty low maintenance when it comes to my face and body.  For years I’ve had only one main criteria with my skin care products – KEEP IT NATURAL. Even though I don’t do a lot with my skin, I make a point to research and know healthy, easy routines to incorporate into my life that can keep my skin youthful, fresh and not as dry as it usually is.

I’ve made my own whipped body butter and have used it as my main body moisturiser for almost a decade now. With my face I like to use natural face serums and oils as they pack a big bunch when it comes to nourishment and keeping your skin youthful and healthy.

There are so many great liquid oils and serums out there but today I’m going to share the coolest one I’ve come across and first of it’s kind which is actually not a liquid serum at all, but a solid facial serum jelly bar from Dew Mighty.

Let me start by sharing a bit about the brand and founder.

DEW MIGHTY A Minimalist Low Waste Skin Care Brand

Dew Mighty is a a concentrated skin care brand striving to be zero-waste and plastic-free. The business currently is a small, self-funded startup so they don’t have big investors telling them what to do for merely the good of profits.

Tiffany, the founder of Dew Mighty, has 15 years experience working in the beauty industry. Over the years it became apparent to her that the system in which we create and dispose of many kinds of products is hurting our planet and depleting our natural resources. Her passion for great skin care and eliminating landfill waste is why she launched Dew Mighty. Sustainability is woven into the core of Dew Mighty with all aspects of their products delivering in this area. By using clean ingredients and minimal low-waste packaging I think they’ve done a pretty good job at accomplishing this.

Being an essentialist, minimalist and biologist with application chemistry training,  Tiffany decided to focus the brand on one main product done really well, inventing the technology herself for this super unique, one of a kind product- the JELLY SERUM BAR.

SOLID JELLY SKIN SERUM BAR

This bar is the first of it’s kind!

What a shampoo bar is to regular ol’ shampoo, this bar is to facial serums.

To start, this bar is based on natural ingredients and is fully concentrated. They removed fillers like water, waxes, preservatives and fragrances. It is also vegan, gluten free and jam packed full of antioxidants and vitamins. Some of these nourishing, moisturizing, and key active ingredients are:

  • Jojoba Oil

  • Olive Squalane

  • Jasmin Flower Oil

  • Licorice Extract

  • Vitamin C

  • Magnolia Bark Extract

  • Monoi De Tahiti

The BLOOM Sold Serum Bar has been dermatologist tested with zero irritation reported with all panelists and has some great certifications attached to the product:

  • Leaping Bunny Cruelty free Certified

  • Peta Vegan and Cruelty Free Certified

  • EWG/Skin Deep Reviewed Green Safety (they are listed in their database!)

  • Gluten Free Certified

“Skipping the Nasties & Loving Your Skin”

The result of this all is a solid skin serum bar with pretty impressive benefits including:

  • Long-lasting nourishing moisture

  • Evens spots and brightens your tone

  • Calms and reduces redness and inflammation

  • Smooths your skin and gives you a youthful glow

ZERO WASTE CONTAINER

To go with the serum bar, Dew Mighty also sells a refillable, recyclable, metal container to hold the serum bar in that comes in two different designs: Wood Grain Water Ripples.  I personally like the Water Ripples container while Luke likes the Wood Grain.

As a first time buyer it is recommended to go with the Dynamic Duo Starter Kit which will give you one BLOOM serum bar and your choice of one container.

MY REVIEW AND THOUGHTS

As I previously mentioned I really love natural skincare products and have tested quite a few brands and products over the years. For the most part, most high quality serums and oils are pretty good for you but what I really like about this serum is that it’s a solid bar.

As a frugalist myself, even when a product is natural and/or sustainable I also always look at the value and cost of an item along with its efficiency and practicality to go with its sustainable nature.

Here are a couple facts about this products to look at:

The cost of the solid serum bar is $45 USD for one or $95 for a pack of three.

One BLOOM Bar averages 60 uses on the face twice daily or 120 applications, so around 2-ish months of use.

When you compare it to other high quality serums and oils out there the usage and price is pretty comparable.

The advantage with this serum though, is that you get a more practical product that is low-waste. You can travel easier with it because it’s solid, it’s a less messy application than regular oil drops and it’s small and takes up a lot less space.

To me, those are pretty great advantages and reasons why I would recommend this product over others.
